EncodeHD 1.1.131.0 Released

Mainly a bugfix release just to wrap up a few outstanding issues. Here’s what’s changed:

  • NEW: /SOF Parameter. Shut down the machine when finished encoding
  • CHANGE: If the audio bitrate is too low on input files with AAC audio, the stream will now be copied instead of re-encoded (to preserve quality)
  • CHANGE: AppleTV Profile now forces 25fps in order to meet Apple specs on 720p content
  • CHANGE: Output file extension is now lower-case to ensure thumbnail generation
  • CHANGE: Removed Donation screen on first start / version upgrade – it’s proven highly ineffective
  • CHANGE: Updated FFmpeg to r19974
  • FIX: Some more aspect ratio fixes

In addition, if you haven’t already seen it – please read my previous post and post a comment. The fact that it’s been 2 days and there isn’t yet a single comment makes me wonder why I’m bothering at all. I may be completely misguided but there’s a lot of daily visits and downloads – I had thought there was some sort of community behind these apps?

    I want to thank you for all the time and effort you put into both Encode360 and EncodeHD. I still use both programs on a regular basis and cannot thank you enough for making encoding so easy. Once again thank you very much.

    First, an HD batch encoder is a great idea and badly needed. I tried out your last version. I liked the picture, I liked the file sizes, but was a little concerned about sound quality. I am testing a mkv music video that I had problems with MKV to Vob and MediaCoder standard edition, specifically going out of sync. Just tried it in the latest version of Encode HD 1.1.1310 and got no sound. Tried it in MediaCoder HDV edition which I’m evaluating and got perfect sync and sound. If it wasn’t $299 it would be an option. :-)

    This was a MKV file encoded at 2116 kbps, containing a mpeg4/iso/avc stream at 1910 kbps, 1280 x 720. Audio is A_Vorbis, 160 kbs per second.

    I tried another MKV encoded at 6159 kbps, same video specs, audio was A_AAC at 128 kbs. This one worked great, the only downside was it only lowered the final file size only by 10 mb, some that would be a good thing. The other thing was txMuxer which I use to make quick AVCHD’s wouldn’t accept its audio. Still, it worked fine in my PS3 as a data file, kept in sync. so that’s great!

    Big issues I think is Orbis audio. If you can ever set up something to encode at different bit rates, that would be fantastic.

    Hello, Dan. It’s me, Nathan, again. I’m having a problem converting a Matroska video file to the Zune format. I understand that you are quite busy with your daily life and other projects, so a delayed response is alright :))

    When the encoding job is finshed, everything seems to have worked fine. But when I view the encoded .mp4 file, the audio is not synced correctly with the video. I have tried this on multiple media players and computers, and still the same problem.

    I hunted down the log file, and it’s a whopping 25 MB! To me, the culprit of this problem appears to be this line that keeps reappearing in the log file:
    “[aac @ 0x3023910]SBR not implemented. Update your FFmpeg version to the newest one from SVN. If the problem still occurs, it means that your file has a feature which has not been implemented.”
    I have the latest version of EncodeHD (I just reinstalled it), and I’m presuming that the latest version of FFmpeg is packaged with it.

    Any ideas on why this happening?

      Can you try putting in the following FFmpeg flag under Advanced?

      -async 50
